Great to visit Queen Alexander College today. Really enthusiastic students, lots of questions and all in agreement with my message - no matter who you are, never give up on your dreams, you can achieve regardless of what anyone says.

Good to speak to lots of HE Business students today at South and City college about my role as an MEP, and the implications the EU has on UK business and trade.

Speaking at the POLSIS conference in Birmingham

Yesterday I was delighted to be invited to speak at the POLSIS conference event in Birmingham yesterday.

Students at the Uni asked for me to be their keynote speaker, which I was very honoured to do.

I was able to talk about my political career, my falling out with UKIP and reasons behind that, and more importantly got a chance to talk about the We Demand a Referendum Now Party.

Students were engaging and asked lots of questions about why I believe we should leave the European Union.

St. Patricks Day Parade, Birmingham

Myself and some of the team were present at Birminghams St Patrick's day parade.

The team had a fantastic day talking to constituents and watching the parade. With over 80,000 present at the parade, it was a fantastic day for Birmingham.

Former Tory MP and UKIP Leader Defects to New Movement

On the eve of the UKIP conference, a former party leader has defected to a new pro-Referendum movement.

Roger Knapman, former Conservative MP for Stroud, lead the parties breakthrough in the 2004 European election where UKIP came third.

His defection to the newly established "We demand a referendum party" was announced on the day when UKIP deputy leader Paul Nuttell admitted that the new grouping was a threat to their own election hopes.

The new party has been founded by high profile MEP Nikki Sinclaire and former Apprentice star Katie Hopkins. 

Roger Knapman was the Conservative MP for Stroud between 1987 to 1997, and PPS to Armed Forces Minister Archie Hamilton between 1990 to 1992 when he resigned over the Maastricht Treaty. He Joined UKIP in 2000, became leader in 2002 until 2006 and was succeeded by Nigel Farage MEP

The ´We Demand a Referendum´ Party has vowed to stand in every seat in the European Elections of 2014 unless David Cameron calls an In/Out referendum by 1 Jan 2014. A YouGov Poll on 4th to 5th Sept´ showed a third of the electorate would or probably would vote for such a single issue party.

Roger Knapman said "Now is the time to force a referendum with our country's continued membership of the European Union. We eurosceptics have won all the arguments. In or Out that is the only question that has to be answered now."

Roger added "I am very happy to give my full support to this initiative, established parties, including UKIP have failed to deliver, and it is time for the People to Demand a Referendum"

Party Chairman, Nikki Sinclaire MEP said "We are delighted to have someone of Rogers's calibre on board. His experience will be invaluable to achieving our aims."

My battle bus rolled into Birmingham today for the final conference of the political season. The Conservatives have chosen Birmingham once again for their conference bringing gridlock to parts of the city on a daily basis. City centre conferences seem to be vogue at the moment much to the detriment of seaside resorts like Brighton, Blackpool, Bournemouth etc it used to be a nice little earner at the end of the season for these resorts but the established political parties rather disrupt the countries major cities.

The Campaign for a Referendum (CfaR) was received warmly by delegates, many signatures were collected and hundreds of petition packs handed out.  Coincidently, the Bruges Group and CfaR had rooms at the Midlands Institute which allowed respective interested parties to find out more about each other.

Outside the Conference I had the pleasure to meet Lizzie Williams, a protester against the High Speed Link (HS2) that is cutting though the Green Belt. Lizzie had just finished her walk though the proposed route. I signed her petition and promised her my support.
