 We Demand a Referendum Now MEP Nikki Sinclaire has slammedformer UKIP MEP Mike Nattrass on the announcement that he will be joining the extremist party, the English Democrats. Mike Nattrass who announced that he was leaving UKIP last week, will speak at the English Democrat conference tomorrow the 20th of September 2013 to formally announce his defection.

Commenting on the news, Nikki said: I am saddened to hear that Mike has today joined the English Democrats. Since 2010 the English Democrats, have been infiltrated by those deserting the infighting of the BNP, who have been in meltdown since the General Election and now contain and tolerate some of the most undesirable and disgusting people in our society’’

Robin Tillbrook leader of the English Democrats has admitted recently to the BBC that at least 1 in 10 English Democrat members are former BNP members.

PRESS RELEASE: MEPS CALL FOR A NO VOTE TO IRISH AUSTERITY

Calls for Austerity are set to be strongly opposed by a delegation making its way to Ireland for the upcoming referendum.

A team organised by MEP’s Nikki Sinclaire, Mike Nattrass and Trevor Colman will spend a week heavily campaigning in Ireland to support the call for the people of Ireland to reject further cost cutting exercises to the country.

The referendum is due to be held on the 31^st May, and the people will be asked to decide whether they want to ratify a new fiscal treaty.

A large delegation will depart to Ireland on the week beginning 27^th May to distribute literature and campaign on the streets to spread the word of why a No vote would be beneficial for the country.

Nikki Sinclaire is no stranger to campaigning in Ireland, as she lent a hand campaigning for a no vote on the Lisbon Treaty.

After spending time in the Republic at the start of May, Nikki is confident that a no vote is what is needed for Ireland.

Nikki said of the treaty, “Austerity measures are draconian. Slashing public spending and increasing taxes will not get Ireland’s economy moving again”.

“The only people who can benefit from his treaty are those who are bondholders or who are bankers. Austerity does not work, and examples of this are beginning to show across Europe, for example in Greece. The people who I have spoken to are worried about the future jobs for young people and those who have very little being squeezed even further”.

“The people of Ireland were promised jobs with the Lisbon treaty, yet these jobs have not appeared. I hope that if the vote is indeed a no, then there is no further interference to get Ireland to vote in the ‘right’ way”.

The EU ignores the people - say Nikki and Mike!

You can't ignore 686114 people, it says on an exhibit outside the European Parliament.

If only it were so.... the EU ignored 495 million Europeans by refusing them a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty. Only the Irish were given their say, and even then, when they voted NO they were made to vote again in order to deliver the correct answer.

Pleased to be joined by another principled MEP

Mike Nattrass and I are delighted to be reunited with an old colleague this week in the form of Trevor Colman, UKIP MEP for the South West.

 

Like Mike and I, Trevor has rejected membership of a controversial political group in the parliament, and now sits alongside Mike and I as 'non-attached' members. This means that we can concentrate on doing the job we were elected to do, and campaign for Britain's withdrawal from the EU. Membership of any such group means compromising on our principles, and we are not prepared to do that. Trevor is a good and hard working campaigner, and I and my staff are looking forward to working alongside him.

Now State Aid for the Germans!

Today in Strasbourg, the European Parliament gave it's assent to an extension of the derogation from Article 182 (4) of the Single CMO Regulation, under which Germany may provide state aid to the German Alcohol Monopoly. This derogation was due to expire on December 1st 2010, but it now appears likely that it will be extended until January 1st 2018.


The concepts of monopolies and state aid are anathema to a competitive free-market economy, which is what the EU aspires to be.


The much needed and long-awaited reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in 2013 will now be undermined by the continuation of this derogation. Much of the 110 million euros in subsidy per annum goes directly to farmers, and there is a danger that the extension of the derogation may set a new precedent in the EU, where farmers now often concentrate on chasing subsidies rather than on following the market.


The West Midlands has seen too many well established businesses relocate to other EU countries as a result of financial incentives provided by the European Commission. We have a tradition of brewing and distilling - will we now see those industries threatened by state subsidised continental monopolies?

Legal action announced

Today at a press conference in Westminster, I announced with regret that I have been driven to take legal action against UKIP, Nigel Farage MEP and Godfrey Bloom MEP in the High Court and the Employment Tribunal.

The high court action is in relation to UKIP breaching it's own Constitution and party rules. The ET claim relates to discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation. I feel that I have been unfairly treated by the leadership of UKIP because I stood up for my principles. It is especially disturbing and offensive as my colleague, Mike Nattrass MEP has received no sanction despite leaving the EFD group for the same reasons.

My complaint against Godfrey Bloom MEP

 After I was elected to the European Parliament in 2009 I raised serious questions over the composition of the political group - EFD - that my party, UKIP chose to join.

Immediately, I identified extremist behaviour including homophobia from the Italian Co-Presidents of the group, Liga Nord. I since discovered convicted racists, anti-Semitic and further homophobia. I found it incredibly difficult to accept that my colleagues parties called for racial segregation on Italian public transport, that the gas chambers in Auschwitz were nothing more than disinfecting chambers and its former mayor of Treviso called for the "ethnic cleansing of faggots" from his city.

I tried hard to change the situation, but my protests were ignored. I felt obliged, in order to stay true to my beliefs and values, to resign from the EFD group.

As a result of this I had the UKIP whip removed, and I now sit as an independent MEP. A fellow MEP, Mike Nattrass also left the group for the same reasons as myself. He has not had the party whip removed. I will leave you do come to your own conclusions as to why that may be.

I have recently been subjected to harassment and intimidation from a number of sources. This has now spilled over into the Parliament itself, and I have today met with President Buzek, who has very kindly re-arranged his busy schedule to meet with me. He considers this a very serious matter and launched an investigation in respect of my formal complaint I have made against a fellow MEP, Godfrey Bloom.

I have been abused and intimidated by this gentleman, and my staff have had to publically endure verbal abuse attacking me.

There should be no place for harassment, for intimidation, or for homophobic abuse anywhere in our society.

These events have been deeply distressing. I am now publically calling on Mr Bloom to do the honourable thing and apologise.

Speaking at the English Democrats

 I along with fellow West Midlands MEP, Mike Nattrass was pleased to have the opportunity to speak at the English Democrat AGM in Nottingham today having had a very successful business breakfast meeting with their leadership team.

We spoke individually and then took questions about the European Union, being a MEP, and the Campaign for a Referendum. It was an enjoyable and interesting experience exchanging views and developing an understanding of each other’s perspective.

It is these cross party initiative that are so important if we are going to win the day. I look forward to further dialogue.

Ps.  I was quite surprised to learn during our breakfast meeting the overtures made by Malcolm Pearson towards an electoral pact during the general election.

Pearson supported by Steve Crowther and Peter Reeeve met with the English Democrat leadership, with the blessing of Nigel Farage

Constituencies where UKIP would not stand were agreed however, as with so much else Pearson reneged on his undertaking costing UKIP considerable support in the areas that they had agreed.
