MEP SLAMS UNNCESSARY MOTORCYCLE LEGISLATION

The European Parliament have passed a report setting out performance and design standards for the Motorcycle industry.
West Midlands Conservative MEP Malcolm Harbour, co-author of the report and president of the parliament's internal market commitee, has been enthusing about the proposals.
However, concerns have been raised about the legality of the proposals, and the lack of evidence cited as justification for new legislation. Indeed, in May this year the UK Secretary of State for Transport criticised the European Commission for lack of evidence to support the call for yet another EU law.
Nikki Sinclaire stated : "This is yet another example of a government that talks about renogotiation of our relationship with the EU, and repatriation of powers to Westminster, whilst its own parliamentarians in Strasbourg and Brussels consistently continue the drive to sign us up to new laws, and ever deeper control of our lives by the EU bureaucrats."
