Visiting Tamworth Food Bank today

Myself and Pastor Stephen Jonathan

Today I took donations of food that were collected from Tamworth ASDA to the Tamworth food bank, which is located in Manna House.

I was greeted by Pastor Stephen Jonathan, who oversees the food bank project as well as all the other projects that Tamworth Elim Church are involved with.

Tamworth food bank has been open for around 18 months, and in that time, has given out 6000 days worth of food. That is the equivalent of feeding 11 people every single day.

Food at the Manna Road centre. There is almost 3 tonnes of food in storage for this food bank in local donated storage facilities.
They run the food bank three days a week, and people are referred to them to collect a food parcel. A number of volunteers help at the food bank, preparing the food packages according to the clients needs.

As well as the food bank, the church operate a cafe from Monday - Friday 10am until 3pm. The cafe is completely free, and allows people from the community to be able to come together in the cafe.

Other projects operated from the site include a nursery, a pregnancy crisis centre, a budgeting course and counselling services.

Stephen and his team are doing such fantastic work at this food bank. Projects such as these are truly humbling.
