Nikki Sinclaire MEP says back Worcester City legends in the final St. Georges Lane game

West Midlands MEP Nikki Sinclaire is urging the people of Worcester to get behind the Worcester City legends as they take on Liverpool legends this Sunday.

The match will be the final game to ever be played at the 108 year old St. George’s Lane ground.

As a Liverpool Centenary club season ticket holder, the We Demand a Referendum NOW MEP knows the importance Worcester have on Liverpool’s history.

The Reds suffered a shock FA Cup defeat - perhaps their biggest ever - against the non-league outfit in January 1959, a factor in the departure of manager Phil Taylor and the hiring of a certain Bill Shankly later that year.

Teams for Sunday boast a number of impressive players from Liverpool’s history; John Barnes will be joined by Alan Kennedy, Paul Walsh, Mark Wright, John Wark, Michael Thomas, Don Hutchison amongst others who will be confirmed over the next few days.

Worcester will also field a team of legends from days past.

Nikki Sinclaire MEP said of the game, “As a season ticket holder at Liverpool, as well as a sponsor of Worcester City football club, I am delighted that this match is happening.

This is a unique opportunity for the people of Worcester to see one final game at St. George’s Lane and see players who have been involved in European Cup finals right here in this fantastic City.

This is another way for fans to show support to Worcester before they make their move to Kidderminster’s Aggborough stadium.

Worcester are a truly fantastic community club, and we must continue to back them”.
