Kind-hearted West Midlands residents have come to the rescue
of a local football club, following a call from the office of a Euro MP.
Nikki Sinclaire MEP read about the theft of minibus wheels
from Nuneaton Town Football Club, who use the vehicle for their community work,
and set her team to work in finding
replacements for the much used bus.
Nuneaton based firm, The Tyre Company and Dudley based
Transit Centre came to the rescue and generously donated all the needed
components and the club will now have a fully working vehicle again.
The We Demand a Referendum Now MEP, who sponsors Adam Walker
at the ‘Boro, has worked closely with the club over the past three years and
was dismayed to hear of what had happened to the vehicle,
Nikki said,
“It was only the night before I heard the news that I was
talking to Ian Neale on Twitter about the fantastic community work Nuneaton
Town have undertaken, and I knew this theft was a huge blow.
Nuneaton Town Football Club do so much for the town, and I
knew I just had to get involved to assist in some way.
My office had a brain-wave to try and ask amongst the local
area for help, and we were overwhelmed by the kindness of local businesses.
This is an example of football and local firms working hand
in hand to better the local area. I’m so proud that this has been able to
happen.
I would also urge anybody who has any information about the
theft of the wheels to come forward. I would not want to see this happen to
anybody else”.
