Nikki Sinclaire criticises creation of Plastic Waste Day

We Demand a Referendum Now MEP Nikki Sinclaire has criticised EU moves to create the world’s first ‘Plastic Waste Day’.

Nikki said,

“We have numerous problems across Europe, including rising unemployment for young people, yet the bureaucrats in Brussels are intent on dreaming up days such as ‘Plastic Waste Day’.

I’m a huge supporter of days such as World Aids Day and I recognise the value in the UK highlighting keeping our local communities clean from plastic waste. However, this EU invented day will cost the taxpayer money. How much will be spent on this whole scheme?

We already work hard in the UK to promote recycling – we do not need EU interference in this area.

Haven’t we got bigger problems in Europe to deal with rather than voting for a “Plastic Waste Day

Plastic waste day for a plastic bureaucracy – yet another reason why we need an EU referendum”.

The EU has already spent £167million on 300 waste and recycling initiatives since 1992.
According to results revealed by the European Environmental Agency in March 2013, recycling rates in the UK rose faster in the first decade of the millennium than any other country in Europe.
