Libby Maes Little Angels

Great picture on twitter today from Libby Mae's Little Angels charity who are at a meeting near my Birmingham office.

A little bit about the Libby Mae's Little Angels charity:

Libby Mae’s Little Angels has been formed in memory of our daughter Libby Mae Sharratt who was born on 26/04/2013.   Following her birth she experienced difficulty breathing and was transferred directly to the Neo-Natal Unit, where she was placed on 100% Intensive Care. Over the next few days Libby had several tests and scans which revealed she had a heart condition, her medication and treatment were changed accordingly and her overall condition seemed to improve; she woke up, we were able to hold her, got to see her beautiful eyes and feel her grip our fingers.

Further scans revealed that the vein from her heart to her left lung had not developed we were advised that she would never be able to breathe for herself and that there was nothing they could do to save her. Libby passed away peacefully in our arms on 09/05/2013 (2 weeks old). Our hearts have been broken and our world torn apart at the loss of our beautiful daughter.

Had the wonderful staff not reacted so quickly and cared for Libby the way they did then we do not believe we would have had the chance to spend a day with our little girl never mind the 2 precious weeks we did have.

We are raising money to provide resources to Neo-Natal Units across The Midlands and will provide equipment that will help save babies lives.  Neo-Natal Units will apply to us by completing ‘Libby Mae’s Little Wish List’, where they will tell us of their top 3 wishes, we will then discuss these with regional network managers and if we have the funds available then we will buy the required resource.

25th April 2014 is the closest Friday to what would have been Libby’s 1st  Birthday and as she was our little pink princess we want as many people as possible to wear something pink in her memory, we are asking businesses, schools and organisations to arrange a dress down day asking staff, pupils and members to dress down for the day, wear something pink and make a donation to our charity.

On the 26th July 2014 we will be holding our very first charity ball at The Burlington Hotel, Birmingham and are hoping to attract several businesses along with individuals from across the region.  There will be a champagne reception, 3 course dinner with wine, live entertainment from local acts throughout the evening, raffles, auctions and a disco.  We are looking for sponsorship from businesses for different aspects of the ball, packages are detailed in the attachment.

 Tickets are on sale now.

Our charity really is going from strength to strength, since losing Libby last May and then becoming a registered Charity in July we have raised in excess of £40,000.00 and hope that this year we will raise lots more.
